WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12,2025-Due to hazardous weather conditions February 11 into the morning of February 12, we will NOT be providing service. Regularly scheduled service for Wednesday customers will now take place on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2025, weather permitting.
Winter update- Yard Debris Season is over and will resume March 1, 2025.
Yard Debris is defined as grass and bush trimmings, leaves, and small twigs bundled and tied. During January and February any yard waste you collect will be picked up on your regular trash days. If the yard waste is not contained or tied it WILL NOT be picked up. NGT IS NOT A TREE COMPANY and our trucks are not set up to handle large limbs and logs. Storm damage to your trees is NOT the responsibility of NGT, is not part of your monthly/quarterly trash removal fee, and is not accepted. Acceptable methods of payment are checks or money orders to Nightingale Trucking, P.O. Box 6069, Alexandria, VA 22306. We also accept Paypal.
COLLECTION DAYS ARE TUESDAY & FRIDAY OR MONDAY & THURSDAY -All items must be on the curb at 6:00am.
County code requires the storage of all household waste be in a water tight, insect proof container with a tight fitting lid or in a plastic garbage bag with closed tops and placed outside for collection no more than twelve (12) hours.
For safety reason BATTERIES and items containing them should not be put in the trash or recycling-they are a fire hazard.
RECYCLING ITEMS - SINGLE STREAM:
NGT will accept the following items for recycling: Metal & aluminum cans, plastic bottles & jugs, newspapers, phone books, magazines, mixed paper, cardboard boxes, cereal & cracker boxes, pizza boxes, and food and beverage containers. All of these items may be placed in the same recycling container and separated at the recycling center.
The following items are NOT acceptable for recycling: GLASS of any type, ceramics, plastic bags, Styrofoam packaging or take-out containers, flexible packaging (juice pouches), cups with plastic/wax coating, hoses, hardback books, lids, caps, or tops (unless they are on the container), light bulbs, pots & pans, batteries, needles, or electronics.
Propane tanks, rocks, bricks, and logs are NOT to be placed at the curb and will NOT be picked up. Paint cans MUST be empty with the lid removed and residual paint dried up. NO Construction/renovation debris (Cabinets, drywall, counters, tile, wood flooring, paneling, toilets. etc). NO motor oil.
Bulk Items- Furniture, appliances, mattresses, lawn furniture, lawn mowers, grills, Televisions, etc. require an extra fee. Please call to schedule before putting it on the curb on trash day. Pictures are helpful. Large move out piles are not included in regular trash fees.
SEASONAL ITEMS - YARD DEBRIS: These items will be collected on Wednesday's, March 1 through December 24. Outside this period yard waste may be collected with refuse. Items must be on the curb by 6:00am of the scheduled day. Grass clippings and leaves must be in PAPER lawn & Leaf bags weighing no more than fifty (50) pounds and no more than ten (10) bags will be collected at a time or a trash receptacle labeled YARD DEBRIS. Plastic bags are NOT acceptable for yard debris and will NOT be picked up. Brush & limbs must be tied in bundles no more than six (6) feet long and two (2) inches in diameter and no more than five (5) bundles will be collected at a time. WHOLE TREES AND LOGS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. NO STORM DAMAGE.
Christmas trees will be accepted during the first 2 weeks of January.
HOLIDAYS: Trash will be collected on Thanksgiving and on ALL national and government holidays EXCEPT CHRISTMAS DAY. Trash collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled day. The make up day for Wednesday, 12/25- Christmas day, 2024, is Thursday 12-26-24. We will provide service on Wednesday, January 1, 2025-Make sure your items are out by 6:00 a.m.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: We will make every effort to maintain service during inclement weather unless there is excessive accumulation of snow, dangerous ice conditions, flooding of the roads or any other extreme weather or man made event. If your service is effected every effort will be made to collect trash on your next scheduled service day.

Recycling bins and Toters remain the property of NGT Trucking and are not to be altered in any way. You are responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged bins and Toters and will be billed for replacement of these items. NGT is NOT responsible for loss or damage to personal trash receptacles.
